detailed history:
On October 23 of 1991, the clouds rolled in from the ocean bringing a thunderstorm in tow. Charles and Mary Lynne were on the way to the hospital from a family dinner party. Mary Lynne had broke her water and told her husband that the time was now. Once they got to the hospital, Mary was in delivery for eleven hours before she gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Chase Dean Carmichael. Chase was the name of Mary’s father and Dean was the name of Charles’s father. Both of the men had died a few years back and Mary and Charles felt that it would fit well to honor their names with the newest addition into the family.
Life was going well for the little family that have been barely out of high school since Mary Lynne got pregnant during her last months in school and Charles was in the middle of his college career. Everything seemed to be in a perfect bliss.
However just like everything else not everything stays happy for long. Shortly after Chase’s fifth birthday, Mary Lynne had gotten news that she had cancer. Not just any cancer but breast cancer. Ever since that day which Chase would never forget because it was the day that everything changed. The date of that day haunted him even to this day, November 13th. Chase at the time didn’t understand really what was going on but that his mom was sick. His father began to disappear more and more. The once lively house seemed to be more of a cave then anything else.
Only a year later on December 27, Chase lost his mother to cancer. That was the last day that Chase thought that there was hope in this world. His father turned towards drugs and lost his job as a paramedic. Everything seemed to be as if the constant shadows of the joyous memories began to fade away. Chase was in school at the time but he was not doing the greatest because he was having problems with concentrating. He was forced to be put in special education. That year during the summer, Charles had ran out of drugs, cocaine was the man’s favorite. Clark had walked into his dad’s room since he heard things crashing on the floor. When he got into the room, he saw his picture of him and his mom fall to the ground and the glass shattered as his father turned to him. Chase had picked up a lot of his features from his mother, her eyes, her hair color, even the little quirks that his mother had he had picked up as well. Charles started to move towards the boy. The last thing that Chase remembers from that day was his father picking him up and taking him to the bed. His dad’s hand fumbled on his belt as he took it off. The sting of the belt ran up Chase’s spin. The next morning however he woke up in the hospital with his grandmother sitting there next to him. He was not sure what happened but the one thing that he knew was that he had a cast on his arm and his face seemed to hurt no matter what.
Chase’s grandmother had turned in Charles to the children protective services and by fall of the following year she had been granted full custody of Chase. A restraining order was put on Charles so he would not be allowed near the boy again.
Years went by and soon Chase was a teenager in high school. He has been going to therapy because of the past events. He does not think that it is a waste of time. In his sophomore year, he was told that he did not need therapy anymore. Also in his sophomore he got switched out of special education and back into normal classes. A lot happened in his sophomore year. First, he began to have more friends that didn’t make fun of him for being in special education. That year he had hit puberty and he also shot up to the sky. He began to work out more and by his junior year he seemed to fit right in with the models that one saw on the tv and in billboards. He had begun his party life and this is also the year that he had his first major girlfriend and also the year that he had lost his virginity.
Now in his senior year, he seems to be happy that he finally made it. He had his friends and he was constantly meeting new people. The one thing that Chase knew was that he was going to remember this year some how and in some way.
